American Child Stamp Doll is a vinyl doll by Effanbee
The American Children Series, designed and sculpted by Dewees Cochran and produced by Effanbee were the first realistic dolls manufactured in the USA. They were also the first dolls to have separated fingers, for which real miniature gloves were made. This American Child Doll is the first reproduction of Dewees Cochran's work in over 60 years. The head is of "Peggy Lou" one of 4 dolls in the series. The torso is the well known "Anne Shirley" body which Effanbee used on the original. Molds for this doll were taken directly from the original Effanbee Composition doll. This doll is produced in a specially formulated collector quality hard vinyl, to look and feel like the original composition. The costume is an exact reproduction of the original. Effanbee is honored to have had the American Child doll selected by the United States Post Office as one of only 15dolls represented on the Classic American Doll Commemorative Stamp issue. Stamp Design 1996 United State Postal Service.
This doll has never been removed from her box. Her head is still wrapped in the netting and enclosed is the gloves, stamp pin, paperwork and still attached to inside of box is a heart bracelet embossed with Effanbee. Thank you for looking!
